Het is u misschien wel eens opgevallen dat moslima’s hun haren bedekken. Nee? Nou dat moet van Allah. Anders worden vrouwen bij bosjes aangerand door mannen. Maar nu blijken die ondeugende moslimmeiden toch een truc te hebben gevonden om de aandacht op hun haar te vestigen. Dat doen ze door onder de hijab een toren van weelderig, prachtig glanzend, heerlijk ruikend, eindeloos lang haar te construeren. Het heet de Abu Nafkha-stijl en is te zien aan een ver omhoog stekende hoofddoek.
De rage begon in de Golfstaten - Saoedi-Arabië, Abu Dhabi, Yemen - maar rukt snel op in Egypte, Iran, enz. En ook het Westen zal er aan geloven. Oftewel, nog even en ook in Nederland moet de hoogte van viaducten worden aangepast.
Is het een teken van stil protest van jonge moslima’s tegen de mannenheerschappij? Geeft het aan dat moderne moslimvrouwen zich niet langer wensen te gedragen zoals de profeet Mohammed (vzmh) in de Middeleeuwen al dan niet (zekerheid bestaat er nooit in religie) heeft voorgeschreven?
Zeker is wel dat de imams met de handen in het haar zitten. Er wordt internationaal gestudeerd op fatwa’s en er zijn berichten dat Saoedi-Arabië met spoed kappers heeft opgeroepen te solliciteren bij de religieuze politie. Meer schokkende afbeeldingen hieronder…

Abu-Nafkha is a relatively new style of Hijab, the religious headscarf worn by Muslim women, and is slowly gaining popularity throughout the Arab world.
The style is called Abu-Nafkha, or “puffed” because it involves creating a bulge under the scarf, usually by placing a large floral hair clip at the back of the head to add volume. This makes women look as if they have very thick hair.

Zie hier een verhaal dat persbureau Reuters heeft overgenomen van het Nederlandse Novum (?). Nederlandse kiezers zouden willen dat zowel Balkenende als Wilders de politiek verlaat. Veel media in Nederland waaronder dagblad Trouw hebben dit verhaal letterlijk overgenomen. Onbekend is nog of de peiling is gehouden voor of na het sexschandaalrond J.P.

Uit de peiling blijkt namelijk dat een meerderheid van de Nederlanders NIET wil dat Balkenende en/of Wilders de politiek verlaat. Niet minder dan 71 procent wil Geert Wilders in de Nederlandse politiek houden en 78 procent wil Balkenende houden. Misschien alleen niet als premier.

Dit is echt voor het eerst dat JdeW met groot genoegen uitkijkt naar het gebruik van bunkerbusters. Ik bedoel, het hoeft toch niet beslist een atoombom te zijn? Een paar goed geplaatste superbommen kunnen wellicht het boorgat in elkaar drukken en/of zoveel zand verplaatsen dat het boorgat afgesloten wordt. En er komt geen radioactief materiaal vrij. Nuking the oilspill is becoming a serious option! Oilman Matt Simmons - chairman of Simmons & Company International, a prominent oil-industry insider - said the US government should immediately take the effort to plug the leak out of the hands of BP and put the military in charge.
“Probably the only thing we can do is create a weapons system and send it down 18,000 feet and detonate it, hopefully encasing the oil,” he said.
His idea echoes that of a Russian newspaper that earlier this month suggested the US detonate a small nuclear bomb to seal the oil beneath the sea. Komsomoloskaya Pravda argued in an editorial that Russia had successfully used nuclear weapons to seal oil spills on five occasions in the past.
The video is a pretty decent overview of how the Russians have tackled blown wells with nuclear devices, but it doesn’t really look at the ecological price attached to detonating a nuclear device in an ecologically sensitive area, or how to contain the toxic waste generated by such an explosion. Er zijn mensen die de discussie aangaan met creationisten. JdeW kan het niet opbrengen. Bijna altijd zijn het vruchteloze exercities op basis van verwarde stellingen. Iedereen die serieus het ontstaan van leven op aarde heeft bestudeerd, weet dat er een reusachtige berg gegevens is verzameld die allemaal de evolutietheorie bevestigen. Miljoenen feiten ondersteunen Darwin. Er is nooit één feit aan het licht gekomen dat de evolutietheorie ontzenuwt. Dit boek beschrijft dat niet alleen de soorten voortdurend veranderen maar dat alles evolutie is: Panta Rei.

Op Overamstel stap ik in de metro.
Ogenblikkelijk klinkt door de intercom de waarschuwing: “Dames en heren, er zijn zakkenrollers aanwezig in deze trein.”
Ook dat nog, zie je de reizigers denken, tewijl ze onwillekeurig naar hun beurs tasten.
Eén station verder stap ik alweer uit, en terwijl ik me op de roltrap langs hen wring, rol ik de vijf medereizigers die ook uitstapten. Opvallend genoeg levert een jongetje dat een man met accordeon vergezelt de grootste buit op.
JdeW is hier een groot voorstander van. Het verbieden van het besnijden van jongens. Hoewel veel minder erg dan de gruwelijke praktijken die bij meisjes plaatsvinden is ook het verminken van jongens als gevolg van religieuze waanideeën van de ouders schandalig. Laat het aan de jongens zelf over als ze mannen zijn of ze al dan niet een deel van hun geslachtsdeel zonder verdoving willen laten verwijderen.
JdeW denkt niet dat het storm gaat lopen…

Increased national attention was on the Gulf Coast yesterday when President Obama made a visit to assess the oil spill response effort. An official in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, are reporting that BP “bused 400 cleanup workers into Grand Isle” — at a rate of $12 an hour — to be there when Obama arrived.
WDSU: Jefferson Parish Councilman Chris Roberts didn’t buy into the cleanup effort. “They must think we’re all fools,” he said. Roberts called BP’s efforts “shameful.”
A BP contractor insisted that it wasn’t a dog and pony show, but a “sheer coincidence” that all the workers arrived on the day the President came to inspect the company’s work.
“Where I was wrong,” said President Obama at his press conference, “was in my belief that the oil companies had their act together when it came to worst-case scenarios.”
With all due respect Mr. President, you’re a very smart man, but how is it possible for anyone with any reasonable awareness of the history of Big Oil to believe that oil companies, which are among the most rapacious (= hebzuchtig) players on the planet, somehow “had their act together” with regard to worst-case scenarios.
Voor de mensen die er over denken naar het beloofde land de Verenigde Staten van Amerika te emigreren. Prima hoor, maar JdeW raadt u aan om uw kinderen in Nederland achter te laten. Zelf goedkoop onderwijs is nog zo’n duizend dollar per maand. Nooit vergeten dat er zinnige dingen worden gedaan met die hogere belastingen in Nederland.
