Het heeft even geduurd maar eindelijk is ie dan binnen… de ‘Onder de loep Award’. We hebben er met zijn allen hard voor moeten knokken maar dan heb je ook wat.
En met ‘allen’ bedoel ik niet alleen redactie en medewerkers van drasties. Maar zeker ook de vaste bezoekers van drasties zonder wiens spirit, wit en last but not least hullie d’r geweldige knowhow van de Nederlandse taal we deze prijs nevernooit in de wacht hadden gesleept.
De prijs is toegekend door het in de Paranormaal begaafde wereld toonaangevende blog Onder de loep. Het heeft al aangekondigd het Amsterdamse Carré af te huren voor de prijsuitreiking. Het is nog niet duidelijk of Freek de Jonge, Joep van ‘t Hek of Theo Maassen de prijs gaat uitreiken. Maar ze staan alle drie te springen. Freek niet zo hoog meer natuurlijk.

Waarom Drasties.com? Omdat de site informatief is, boordevol actuele stukken, zowel Engels- als Nederlandstalig, vaste rubrieken zoals het Ikje, weer- en fileberichten en veel humoristische artikelen. Het lezerspubliek komt dan ook merendeels uit de intellectuele hoek.
Maar deze award krijgt het blog vooral van ons vanwege bewezen moed. Meer door toeval, dan door wijsheid werd er een artikel geplaatst over een opmerking van een paragnost. Daarmee werd de doos van Pandora geopend. De sitebeheerder catagoriseerde het artikel niet voor niets ook onder de rubriek: ‘nou breekt m’n klomp.’ Het blog kreeg visite van randgroepparagnosten en gedupeerden daarvan. Door scheldende en dreigende reacties van deze paragnosten, kreeg dit artikel een vervolg … en nog een … en nog een….

Geert Wilders zei gisteren in een interview met een Australische televisiezender dat Islam niet vergeleken kan worden met het Christendom. Verder noemde de PVV-leider Islam een gewelddadige ideologie net als facisme en communisme. Hij riep ook op om alle immigratie van moslims naar Westerse landen te stoppen.
Wilders is nu op weg naar New York waar hij zal spreken op de 9/11 rally tegen de komst van een Islamitisch centrum op enkele honderdsen meters van Ground Zero.

Dit is wel iets. Twee vliegtuigpassagiers - Ahmed Mohamed Nasser al-Soofi en Hezem al-Murisi - zijn op Schiphol gearresteerd met in hun bagage een lege shampo-fles waaraan horloges waren bevestigd en een lege medicijnfles waaraan mobiele telefoons waren bevestigd. Het lijkt daarmee op een oefening voor een bomaanslag. In flessen kan explosieve vloeistof worden vervoerd en horloges en mobiele telefoons kunnen worden gebruikt bij het exploderen van een bom. Ook zouden er messen en scharen in de koffers hebben gezeten.

In probably the first of many court decisions blocking Republican Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli’s frivolous legal theories, a Virginia judge halted the witchhunt of the global warming sceptic against respected climate change scientist Michael Mann.
The judge found that Cuccinelli failed to provide even a very rudimentary explanation of just what Professor Mann did “that was misleading, false or fraudulent in obtaining funds from the Commonwealth of Virginia.”

Crowd counting isn’t an exact science. Still, we like to know how many honorable American patriots came to the ‘Restoring Honor’ rally organised by Fox News host Glenn Beck. Experts from CBS said the rally this weekend in Washington drew about 87,000 people.
The great man himself Glenn Beck said there were somewhere between 300,000 and 600,000 white folks and 17 blacks.
The Republican politician Michele Bachmann claimed there were more than a million people.
So who is right? Again, it’s not an exact science, but a very good guess can be made based on the available evidence. Let’s start with a look at the three images of the rally:

A $40 million prison sits in the desert north of Baghdad, empty. A $165 million children’s hospital goes unused in the south. A $100 million waste water treatment system in Fallujah has cost three times more than projected, yet sewage still runs through the streets.
As the U.S. draws down in Iraq, it is leaving behind hundreds of abandoned or incomplete projects. More than $5 billion in American taxpayer funds has been wasted — more than 10 percent of the some $50 billion the U.S. has spent on reconstruction in Iraq, according to audits from a U.S. watchdog agency.
That amount is likely an underestimate, based on an analysis of more than 300 reports by auditors with the special inspector general for Iraq reconstruction. And it does not take into account security costs, which have run almost 17 percent for some projects.

Waar is dit vraagt u zich zeker ook af? In welk achterlijk land worden mensen gegeseld omdat ze voor een publiek van mannen en vrouwen hebben opgetreden. Iran, Afghanistan, Saoedi-Arabië? Nee, nee, nee, alhoewel het ligt wel in de buurt.
Het gaat om Israel waar, als rabbi Yitzhak het voor het zeggen krijgt er geen plaats is voor ongetrouwde mannen en vrouwen om samen te zijn en zeker niet om te luisteren naar muziek, laat staan te dansen. Zie dit artikel in de Jerusalem Post.
Overigens blijkt uit de video dat de straf vooral symbolisch is, hetgeen toch een iets andere indruk maakt dan straf die onvrijwillig wordt toegebracht voor morele zonden.

Ik vind Fox News een verachtelijke haatmachine die er op gericht is om domme mensen dom te houden. Het is puur gif dat deze propaganda machine dagelijks de ether in stuurt. Maar dit verhaal gaat zelfs voor JdeW wat ver. Fox News wordt hier vergeleken met Radio Rwanda dat met zijn uitzendingen de Hutu’s net zo lang ophitste tot ze bereid waren om een miljoen Tutsi’s, mannen, vrouwen en kinderen, - kakkerlakken - te vermoorden.
Anderzijds kan geen zinnig mens tegen een totale wereldwijde boycot van deze leugenachtige hetserige producent van shit zijn.

In fact if you follow Fox News and the Limbaugh/Hannity afternoon radio crew, this summer’s blowout has almost seemed like an intentional echo of the notorious Radio Rwanda broadcasts “warning” Hutus that they were about to be attacked and killed by conspiring Tutsis, broadcasts that led to massacres of Tutsis by Hutus acting in “self-defense.” A sample of some of the stuff we’ve seen and heard on the air this year.
