Piet Hein lichtte het desgevraagd voor de drasties bezoekers nog nader toe: “Noem me één land waar je de hele winter gratis en voor niets sneeuw thuisbezorgd krijgt en waar je in de zomer, let wel ook gratis, iedere dag een paar uur in de file mag staan.”

What being a Christian in the United States of America means, on Fox News, was made perfectly clear by Tucker Carlson, who was filling in for Sean Hannity. He said that NFL quarterback Michael Vick - [a black quarterback (JdeW)] - should have been executed for killing dogs in dog fights. He reacted to praise by President Obama for the American Footballteam Philidelphia Eagles for giving Vick, who served time in prison, a second change.
Of course no one should be surprised by Carlson remarks, since earlier he asked for the summary execution of Sarah Palin for killing defenseless caribous on her TLC reality show, Sarah Palin’s Alaska. Apparently MSNBC host Cenk Uygur missed that last remark.
Crooks and Liars - “Now, I’m a Christian,” Carlson announced, while filling in for Fox News’ Republican commentator Sean Hannity. “I’ve made mistakes myself. I believe fervently in second chances but Michael Vick killed dogs and he did it in a heartless and cruel way and I think, personally, he should have been executed for that.”

Dutch Fund helps injured kittens
Geneseo, Illinois - Four kittens are on the mend thanks to medical care provided by the Dutch Memorial Fund.
Funds were used by the Henry County Humane Society’s Geneseo Chapter to pay for amputations for two cats and eye removals for two others. “The Dutch Fund made all the difference in the world for these kittens,” said humane society volunteer Cindy Avey.
A Dutch Memorial Fund was established in April after a cat, dubbed “Dutch,” was found tortured and nailed to a utility pole in rural Geneseo.

The most famous long distance skating race in the world is the Eleven Cities Race in Friesland, the Netherlands. De Elfstedentocht! It is a dangerous adventure and people are advised not to try and take part in this event over two hundred kilometers in the northern, still partly unexplored, part of the Netherlands.
Many people have lost their lives trying to finish that race.
Some died of exhaustion, some drowned when they didnt see a wak, some lost their way in the barren lands and where never seen again, some just lost the will to live after realising they were not gonna be there in time to get their Elfstedenkruisje.
This year the chance that it will be held looks pretty good. It’s freezing out there. Having skated just 80 kilometers long distance myself once, JdeW once more urges everyone to stay away as far as possible from Friesland and the Elfstedentocht.
How difficult is it? That depends a lot on the weather conditions. In 1909, the winner Minne Hoekstra took almost 14 hours to cover the distance, in 1997 Henk Angenent just took seven hours. Experts say 1963 was the most difficult race. It was minus 18 degrees Celsius. Only 69 skaters out of 10,000 made it to the finish: the worst ever result in the history of the race. The title of a recent film on the Tour that year says it all, it is called ‘The hell of `63’

Toeristen trekken weer massaal naar de Egyptische badplaats Sharm-el-Sheikh. En dat is allemaal te danken aan een dronken Servier. Dat meldt het Macedonisch nieuwsagentschap MINA. Het bericht is overgenomen door kranten wereldwijd.
Dragan Stevic had hem na een nacht doordrinken aardig hangen. Hij besloot met vrienden af te zakken naar het strand om af te koelen. Daar stond een hoge springplank die eerder op de dag door duikers was gebruikt.
“Dragan gaf me zijn biertje en liep naar de plank. Het ging zo snel dat we hem niet konden tegenhouden”, vertelde een vriend. Hij sprong maar er kwam geen plons. Door stom toeval kwam hij vol op een haai terecht. ’s Ochtends vond de Egyptische politie een dode haai op het strand.
Stevic was zich na zijn heldendaad van geen kwaad bewust. Hij slaagde erin om tot aan de kust te zwemmen waar hij zich beklaagde over een pijnlijke enkel.

Wetenschappers van Wageningen Universiteit plaatsten essen in een ruimte met zes draadloze routers. Ze deden het al snel een stuk minder goed dan bomen in een ruimte zonder draadloos internet. Maar meer onderzoek is nodig, aldus wetenschapper Dr. Andre van Lammeren.In dit stuk komt ook Niek van ‘t Wout (verantwoordelijk voor de openbare ruimte in Alphen aan den Rijn) aan het woord die als eerste zieke bomen in Alphen aan den Rijn onderzocht en het onderzoek van de Universiteit Wageningen initieerde.
Voorlopige conclusie: er kunnen geen conclusies worden getrokken. Behalve wellicht dat er door de essen in de ruimte met wifi een stuk meer wordt gelachen!
Dutch reports on Wi-Fi and sick trees off the mark
Wall Street Journal - There were really two separate reports. One was conducted by the Dutch municipality of Alphen aan den Rijn, of some troubling abnormalities in the city’s trees. The other, funded by the town, was a laboratory experiment pitting some trees exposed to Wi-Fi signals to others that weren’t. This study found some damage to the Wi-Fi-exposed trees, though the nature of that damage was different than the damage seen in the city’s trees.
Niek van ‘t Wout, who heads Alphen aan den Rijn’s green space, is the driving force behind these studies. His town examined 600 trees and found 70% had abnormalities — which led to articles world-wide claiming that 70% of urban trees are sick. Political insiders in the U.S. stayed up late last night to discuss this alarming development. Almost all analists concluded that this means the end of the political career of Barack Obama. The general opinion was that ‘Obama just made himself a one term president’.
Terrorism experts warned that America should be prepared for a new wave of hostage taking by Al Qaeda and other muslim radicals now that they know that President Obama is prepared to negociate with hostage takers.

There’s a big misunderstanding about WikiLeaks. Some people seem to think that Julian Assange - yesterday arrested and denied bail in England - and his cabal dumped 250.000 unedited documents on the internet.
That is not true.
WikiLeaks has posted on its website only 960 of the 251,297 diplomatic cables it has obtained. Almost every one of these cables was first published by one of its newspaper partners which are disclosing them, like The Guardian (Britain), the NYT (U.S.), El Pais (Spain), Le Monde (France), Der Spiegel (Germany), etc.
Does he have a partner in the Netherlands?
The cables are edited to protect innocent people and otherwise minimize harm.
Some American politicians seem to want to prosecute everyone publishing the cables, including all journalists, newspapers, blogs etc..
In The New Republic today, Todd Gitlin writes an entire anti-WikiLeaks column that is based on an absolute factual falsehood. Anyone listening to most media accounts would believe that WikiLeaks has indiscriminately published all 250,000 of the diplomatic cables it possesses, and Gitlin — in the course of denouncing Julian Assange — bolsters this falsehood: “Wikileaks’s huge data dump, including the names of agents and recent diplomatic cables, is indiscriminate” and Assange is “fighting for a world of total transparency.”
The reality is the exact opposite — literally — of what Gitlin told TNR readers.

Morgen weten we dus of Nederland het voetbaltuig uit de hele wereld op bezoek gaat krijgen. En ik doel hierbij niet op de Belgen met wie we proberen de Wereldkampioenschappen Voetbal 2018 binnen te halen.
Voor mensen die het zien zitten, wijs ik graag even op deze zeer geruststellende uitspraak van Ruud Lulgit, de man die het WK voor ons gaat binnenhalen en tevens vaste drasties medewerker.
Het kan dus. Geweldig om te weten dat al die heisa niet helemaal voor niets is geweest.

Recently I became aware of a proposal to the Council of Ministers of the European Union for the phased introduction of a Pan-European standard for a more user-friendly communication:
‘Having chosen English as the preferred language in the European Union, the European Parliament has commissioned a feasibility study into ways of improving efficiency in communications between Government Departments.
European officials have often pointed out that English spelling is unnecessarily difficult. For example: cough, plough, rough, through and thorough. What is clearly needed is a phased programme of changes to iron out these anomalies. The programme would, of course, be administered by a committee staffed at top level by all participating nations.

controle geen internet - elf weken wifi - 16 weken wifi
Eerlijk gezegd ziet JdeW qua straling door de bomen het bos niet meer maar dit onderzoek is toch wel iets. Bladeren drogen uit en sterven af als ze maanden in de buurt staan van wifi-routers die signalen voor draadloos internet uitzenden.
Wetenschappers van Wageningen Universiteit plaatsten essen in een ruimte met zes draadloze routers. Ze deden het al snel een stuk minder goed dan bomen in een ruimte zonder draadloos internet. Wel moet gezegd worden dat er door de essen in de ruimte met wifi een stuk meer werd gelachen!
Aanleiding voor het onderzoek was een ontdekking van ambtenaren van de gemeente Alphen aan den Rijn dat bomen in hun gemeente onverklaarbare gezwellen hadden. Dit onderzoek bewijst niet definitief dat de straling de oorzaak is voor de gezwellen, maar het toont wel aan dat die mogelijkheid bestaat. Meer onderzoek is nodig.
Oranje wordt in 2012 Europees kampioen. En dat hebben we te danken aan dakevangelist Joop van Ooijen.

Jezus redt, is gered! ‘Dakevangelist’ Joop van Ooijen en de gemeente Giessenlanden hebben de strijdbijl rond het conflict over de daktekst Jezus redt definitief begraven. De tekst op het dak van de boerderij van Van Ooijen mag blijven staan, maar wordt kleiner en de geverfde dakpannen worden vervangen door traditionele oranje pannen.
De daktekst was de gemeente jarenlang een doorn in het oog. Het conflict leidde onder meer tot een gang naar de Raad van State en de rechtbank in Dordrecht.

Johan Cruijff adviseert Ajax om de aan Almere verhuurde speler Rene Osei Kofi onmiddellijk terug te halen en op te stellen in de spits. ”Hullie hebben in Nederland geen angst meer voor Ajax en daar kan Koffie verandering in brengen”, aldus Cruijff. “Koffie heb dat bij Almere bewezen, dus waarom zou hij dat ook niet in de eredivisie niet kunnen? De Amerikaanse president Barack Obama heeft gebeld met premier Mark Rutte. Premier Rutte nam de felicitaties in ontvangst voor zijn aantreden als premier van Nederland. De premier condoleerde de president met zijn grote verlies. Daarop verklaarde de president veel waarde te hechten aan de hulp van de premier.
Nederland is wereldwijd al top in design en nu moet de mode er aan geloven. Te beginnen met lingerie. Drasties introduceert… het boxershort van het Haagse collectief HaagseHep. Oftewel de onderbroek van Haagse Harry.
Dit weekeinde werd Ut Groen Geile Broekie gelanceerd. Voor niet-Hagenezen: een spin-off van de Haagse spellingsgids Ut Groen-Geile Boekie.
Het eerste exemplaar werd op een rondvaart door de Haagse grachten uitgereikt door Marnix Rueb (tekenaar van Haagse Harry), aangetrokken door Jack (Mondriaan College) en doorgeknipt door de Haagse nachtburgemeester René Bom.

Te weten drie Britten, een Fransman, een Duitser en een dronken Pool (mogelijkverdwaald). Verder bestond de demonstratie van het European Freedom Initiative (EFI) uiteen tiental Nederlanders.
Er was meer pers en politie. Gezellig werd het pas toen een dertigtal Ajax-supporters langs kwam.

Zo vindt de Nijmeegse hoogleraar sociale psychologie Roos Vonk de verbanden tussen het hebben van een vaste relatie enerzijds, en geluk en gezondheid ‘niet zo sterk en eenduidig’. Volgens Vonk is het vooral een goede en gezonde publiciteitsstunt van VGZ.
