Pas nadat ik op de vluchtstrook tot stilstand ben gekomen, komen de hartkloppingen en tranen.Ik leef nog! Het regende, het was druk op de snelweg, ik reed 120 op de linker weghelft en was net een vrachtwagen aan het inhalen. Ineens was er die knal en was mijn auto bijna onbestuurbaar. Een klapband.Hoe ik veilig op de vluchtstrook ben terecht gekomen, weet ik nog steeds niet.Trillend kruip ik uit de auto. Bij een boerderij in de verte zie ik een groot spandoek met daarop geschreven: Jezus redt!

Zo vindt de Nijmeegse hoogleraar sociale psychologie Roos Vonk de verbanden tussen het hebben van een vaste relatie enerzijds, en geluk en gezondheid ‘niet zo sterk en eenduidig’. Volgens Vonk is het vooral een goede en gezonde publiciteitsstunt van VGZ.

Grund sind Studien, die erwiesen, dass Menschen in einer festen Beziehung glücklicher sind als Alleinstehende. Der Versicherer will die Dating-Aktion auch gebrauchen, um eine neue, ergänzende Versicherung für Singles zu promoten. Interessenten für die zusätzliche Versicherung können über die Homepage der VGZ sieben Tage lang Verbindung mit der Datingseite herstellen.
JdeW is een fan van de Amerikaanse blogs Crooks and Liars, Atrios en DailyKos. Crooks and Liars is bijvoorbeeld van de muzikant John Amato die blogger werd. Hoe belangrijk blogs zijn geworden, bleek gisteren weer eens. President Obama had vijf Amerikaanse bloggers - Barb in MD van DailyKos, Atrios, Joe Sudbay, Oliver Willis en John Amato - uitgenodigd voor een gesprek in het Witte Huis. Echt waar, vijf bloggers koppelden zich los van hun computer, kochten een stropdas en gingen naar het Witte Huis.
President Obama stelde in het gesprek opnieuw vast dat Amerika een star land is geworden. Bijvoorbeeld door de filibuster regel. Daarmee kan alles worden tegengehouden in de senaat als er geen meerderheid is van 60 pct. En nog altijd zijn er vele ambtenaren niet benoemd omdat één senator de benoeming kan tegenhouden.

And the filibuster is not part of the Constitution. The filibuster, if you look at the history of it, may have arisen purely by accident because somebody didn’t properly apply Robert’s Rules of Procedure and forgot to get a provision in there about what was required to close debate. And folks figured out very early, this could be a powerful tool. It was used as a limited tool throughout its history. Sadly, the primary way it was used was to prevent African Americans from achieving civil rights.

Where is the youtube video? Can’t find it. What was the PR-department of the White House thinking? If they were. Why go on the Daily Show and not make your appearance available to everybody? Wouldn’t that be a condition for letting president Obama being interviewed by Jon Stewart?

Appearing on “The Daily Show” last night, President Obama said the Senate filibuster process “needs to be changed” because the GOP minority’s “unprecedented” use of the filibuster “deters Democrats from working across the aisle” and drives the parties further apart. Noting the number of his nominees still awaiting confirmation, Obama said the GOP’s abuse of the filibuster is “just not in the Constitution.”
Republican representative Steve King has his priorities straight. Yesterday he told the voters in Iowa that if conservatives don’t restrict marriage to one man and one woman, children will be taken away from their parents and raised in warehouses. And this should be the deciding question for Iowans when they vote in five days:

“I think that if we can’t defend marriage, that it becomes very hard to defend life,” King said. “Marriage is the crucible by which we pour all of our values and pass them on to our children, and that is how the culture is renewed each time. So, if we lose marriage — for instance, if our children are raised in warehouses, so to speak. There have been civilizations that have tried to do that. The Spartans did that. With the conservative advertisers trying to influence the midterm election the same words come up again and again: Grass-roots. Nonpartisan. Independent.
But are they?
Their ads seem to imply the groups are homegrown in the States were the ads are broadcasted. But are they?
No, They are not. Every single group mentioned here is based within 20 minutes of Capitol Hill. Most of them, in fact, are in just two office suites.
DailyKos - As for their independence: It would be illegal for them to coordinate their attacks with the candidates they’re helping, or with Republican Party committees. But among themselves, they’re proud of the way they synchronize their efforts.
“If one group puts an ad on television in a certain congressional district, they let everyone else know that,” says Jonathan Collegio with American Crossroads. “This way they don’t double up on the advertising.” [read on] (more…)

die entführung - halve boerka en slipje kan niet door moslim beugel
‘Zo’n spotje kwetst’, aldus Mohammed Achaibi, woordvoerder van de Moslimexecutieve, vertegenwoordigende orgaan van de moslims in België. ‘Dat beeld van die vrouw in een halve boerka en een slipje is voor een gelovige moslim ronduit beledigend. Voorts worden moslims weer op één hoop gegooid en vereenzelvigd met terrorisme. Dat creëert een sfeertje dat niet prettig is. Wat wil men hiermee bereiken? Ik ben voor de vrije meningsuiting, maar van dit spotje zie ik echt het nut en de humor niet in.’
Hij heeft het over bovenstaand reclamespotje van de Vlaamse Opera dat momenteel loopt op de VRT-televisie. Woordvoerder Eetezonne van de Vlaamse Opera noemt het spotje ’braaf’ met een ‘knipoog’. (more…)

Nu pas snap ik wat er precies is gebeurd. Gelukkig is er altijd het Mauritius News om op terug te vallen.
De Nederlandse politie heeft een eigen programma ongevraagd geinstalleerd in miljoenen computers wereldwijd die met het Bredolab-virus waren geinfecteerd. Een politie-virus zeg maar. Dit programma stuurde de gebruikers van de computers naar een speciale site van de politie waarop informatie stond over de infectie en de verwijdering van het Bredolab-virus van hun computer.
Het is de vraag of dat mag.

Bredolab is een berucht botnet dat sinds juli 2009 meer dan 143 servers gebruikte om wereldwijd dertig miljoen pc’s te infecteren met 3,6 miljard besmette emails. Het Trojan Horse-virus werd geinstalleerd op computers waarna de criminelen persoonlijke gegevens zoals wachtwoorden konden stelen.
Mauritius News - The Dutch police uploaded their own program to the millions of infected computers to let them know that their personal computers were infected, a tactic that seemed to violate computer crime laws.

In weer een geweldig artikel blijft Glenn Greenwald maar door gaan over de berichtgeving over de Irak-documenten die zijn geplaatst op Wikileaks en vooral de reactie van de NYTimes er op. Uit de documenten blijkt dat Amerikanen bewust hebben meegeholpen aan het martelen en doden van burgers door Iraakse martelbrigades.
De traditionele media in de Amerika doen er niet veel aan.
In Nederland is dat van toepassing op nieuwe media zoals GeenStijl dat sinds het van De Telegraaf is blijkbaar steeds minder op heeft met onthullingen. Zie dit anonieme verhaal van JdeW op drasties: Bert Brussen - Bedenk eens wat nieuws of hou je domme waffel Ach, waarom zou je je ook druk maken over een paar oorlogen, schrijft Glenn Greenwald vandaag. “Over onschuldig bloed verspild in twee decennia van oorlog dat een land heeft verwoest zonder reden en een wereldwijd Amerikans regiem van marteling heeft opgeleverd? Waarom je daar over opwinden?
Nee wat belangrijk is, is stoppen met zo gemeen zijn tegen…”
This is the heart of the matter. What Burns did to Julian Assange is most certainly not a “standard journalistic endeavor” for The New York Times. If anyone doubts that, please show me any article that paper has published which trashed the mental health, psyche and personality of a high-ranking American political or military official — a Senator or a General or a President or a cabinet secretary or even a prominent lobbyist — based on quotes from disgruntled associates of theirs. That is not done, and it never would be.
The New York Times‘ John Burns yesterday responded to (and complained about) criticisms — voiced by me, Julian Assange and others — over his gossipy, People Magazine-style “profile” of Assange, which his newspaper centrally featured as part of its coverage of the WikiLeaks document release. California Republican gubernatorial nominee Meg Whitman - who is 6 points behind in the polls - has spent about $140 million of her own money on her campaign. That is enough to send “two medium pizzas, with two toppings each, to every household in California.” The Los Angeles Times’ Steve Lopez offers some other “more worthwhile causes” the money could have gone to, such as a new Toyota Corolla for every resident of Ojai, CA — population 7,800.
President Obama will become the first sitting president to appear on Comedy Central’s the Daily Show with “comedian-turned-activist” Jon Stewart.
Barack Obama’s appearance today is an attempt, according to White House officials, to “seek out young Democratic voters wherever they spend the most time.”
There has always been a violent fringe in the United States but all of a sudden this fringe isn’t so fringy any more. Violence is directly or indirectly promoted by rightwing contenders for the Senate, the House and by top conservative personalities at the nation’s premier right-wing media outlet, Fox News. DailyKos, Kos: “We can stick our heads in the sand and pretend these crazies don’t exist, or we can see them for who they are, and what they seek for our country.”
Media Matters - On today’s radio show Glenn Beck said he couldn’t believe that Stephen Broden, a frequent guest on his Fox News show and a pastor who attended his 8-28 rally, said that violent overthrow of the U.S. government is an option that “is on the table.” […]It’s notable that in the report on Broden’s rhetoric, much of his most outlandish comments are major premises of Beck’s radio and Fox News show. Broden discussed health care reform sending seniors to early graves, Beck has promoted the “death panel” myth. Broden claimed that the Obama administration planned the economic problems facing the country, while Beck has said that Obama administration is engaged in a plot to “collapse the system.” Broden compared the current administration to Nazis, while hardly a day goes by when Glenn Beck doesn’t invoke the Nazis in his discussions of the Obama administration.
