Simon Simpkins was geschokt toen hij de citroen en de limoen op de verpakking van de maoam-snoepjes zag. De twee vruchten hadden sex met elkaar. Gewoon zomaar in de winkel. De afbeelding, die sinds 2002 de snoepjes siert, kwam zo hard aan dat zijn vrouw op de grond van de parkeerplaats moest gaan zitten. In een tirade tegen de bedrijfsleider zei Simpkins: “De citroen en de limoen lijken een vleselijke ontmoeting te hebben. De limoen, die volgens mij de man is, heeft een bijzonder minzame uitdrukking op zijn gezicht.”

A British father was shocked to find a “lemon sex-party” on candy wrappers. Simon Simpkins: “‘The lemon and lime are locked in what appears to be a carnal encounter. The lime, whom I assume to be the gentleman in this coupling, has a particularly lurid expression on his face.” Of course, had this occurred in the States, someone would have pointed out that with all that stubble, that lemon is clearly also a dude. Not only are these candies promoting citrus-sex to our children, but homosexual citrus-sex. Is this what happens when socialism gets into the candy? And it gets worse.

Veel reageerders op drasties zijn er goed in: Dutch compliments.
Een compliment maar niet echt. Iemand het graf in prijzen, lijkt er wat op maar is het niet helemaal.
Bijvoorbeeld:
Voor een gat als Goirle is er toch heel wat te doen, maleier.
Voor een analfabeet schrijft JdeW best veel, maleier.
A Dutch compliment is as seldom as a Dutch mountain, DownOnder.
Een goed geschreven stukje voor een Amerikaan, Jammerende Jurk.

Dutch compliments: ‘Gosh, you sure run fast for having such short legs’

Back in my old neck of the woods of Southeastern Pennsylvania, they call them Dutch Compliments, or double-edged barbs aimed at needling and praising a person at the same time. To do this, one would use phrases like, “Gee, you don’t sweat so much for being so out of shape,” and “Gosh, you sure run fast for having such short legs,” and “Wow, you’re a good writer for being illiterate,” and … you get the idea.
For Pasadena, a Dutch Compliment might be, “Golly, Pasadena sure contains an amazing amount of art and art opportunities to enjoy and appreciate for being such a small city.”

President Barack Obama’s job approval rating has been steadily declining over the past several months at the same time that the Dow Jones Industrial Average has been steadily increasing. This inverse relationship between job approval and the stock market is not a common pattern with recent presidents. In fact, Gallup’s analysis of job approval ratings and the Dow going back to 1977 finds few sustained periods where the Dow and presidential approval were strongly related (either positively or negatively).

So, Fox news reports gleefully on two-timer William Taylor of Centreville, who gave commuters a bit of a giggle this morning. Drie mogelijkheden. Of de maansteen die de toenmalige oud-premier Willem Drees in 1969 als geschenk van de Amerikaanse ambassadeur kreeg, is nep. Of aliens bestaan, en wel op de maan. Of Neil Armstrong is nooit op de maan geweest en heeft iets uit zijn achtertuin gevist.
Drie jaar geleden kreeg ruimtevaartondernemer Arno Wielders argwaan, toen hij de - voor 50.000 euro verzekerde - ‘moon rock’ op een expositie in het Rijksmuseum zag. Grootte… kleur… niets klopte. Een onderzoek werd ingesteld. En rap. Een fragment werd microscopisch onderzocht. Nu, drie jaar later, is de Vrees van Drees bewaarheid. Het gaat om hout. Oud hout weliswaar maar toch… hout.
Waarom de Amerikaanse regering Nederland heeft afgescheept met een stuk hout? Dat weten we pas na kamervragen van Geert - ‘de onderste steen moet boven’ - Wilders.
Laten we hopen dat Drees in ieder geval het bonnetje heeft bewaard.

‘Moon rock’ in Dutch National Museum just a piece of petrified wood

It’s not green cheese, but it might as well be.
The Dutch national museum said today that one of its most prized possessions, a rock supposedly brought back from the moon by U.S. astronauts, is just a piece of petrified wood.
In an investigation into the piece, a space expert told the Rijksmuseum it was unlikely NASA would have given away any moon rock so soon after Apollo returned to Earth. Rijksmuseum spokeswoman Xandra van Gelder, said the museum will keep the relic as a curiosity. read on here>> (more…)

A California girl, Jaycee Dugard, who was kidnapped at the age of 11 in 1991 has been found alive, having spent 18 years living in sheds and tents behind the home of her accused abductor, Phillip Craig Garrido, a convicted rapist who fathered two children with her, police said on thursday.

SACRAMENTO, CA - Phillip Garrido, the abductor of 11 year old Jaycee Dugard has a blog. It is called: “Voices Revealed.” His website links to sites like: GodsDesire and Government Mind Control.
On the blog Garrido has posts covering different facets of religion: from his ability to speak in tongues to explaining why people hear voices in their head.
Garrido may also have his own church he runs out of his home called “Voices Are Us.”

Americans search for the cure to what ails our health-care system.
But we’ve overlooked an invaluable source of ideas and solutions: the rest of the world. All the other industrialized democracies have faced problems like ours, yet they’ve found ways to cover everybody — and still spend far less than we do.
I’ve traveled the world from Oslo to Osaka to see how other developed democracies provide health care. Instead of dismissing these models as “socialist,” we could adapt their solutions to fix our problems. To do that, we first have to dispel a few myths about health care abroad:
1. It’s all socialized medicine out there. Not so.
2. Overseas, care is rationed through limited choices or long lines. Generally, no.
3. Foreign health care are inefficient, bloated bureaucracies. Much less so than here.
4. Cost controls stifle innovation. False.
