“The worst thing about Mr. Gore, from the conservative point of view, is that he keeps being right. In 1992, the sitting president’s father George H. W. Bush, mocked him as the “ozone man”, but three years later the scientists who discovered the threat to the ozone layer won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. And now measures have reduced that problem drastically.
In 2002 he warned that if we invaded Iraq, “the resulting chaos could easily pose a far greater danger to the United States than we presently face from Saddam.” And so it has proved. […]
Which brings us to the biggest reason the right hates Mr. Gore: in his case the smear campaign has failed. He’s taken everything they could throw at him, and emerged more respected, and more credible, than ever. And it drives them crazy.”

The problem is, Gore is a clear thinker, and while one clear thinker is not really an issue, rational thinking has a way of spreading.

The repulsive carrion-eaters in power can’t afford to have the plebes actually thinking…. a rational, critical populace is their greatest threat.

  2. Jackson Says:

Reich-wingers hate Gore because he has more intelligence in his big toe than the entire reich-wing party put together. Reich-wingers fear and hate intelligence, common-sense, facts, and the truth.

  3. Bartlebee Says:

Whoever wrote this was right on the money.

Gore is right and the right wing is always wrong, and they can’t stand it.

Oh is this the Al Gore who’s huge mansion accounts for 10 times the carbon foot print of the average American? Wasn’t he the one who justifies it by saying that he buys carbon credits from his own company? Well I guess it’s OK to have a huge carbon foot print as long as you’ve got the dugh to pay for it right? What a hypocrite! No wonder he lost in 2000. Even his own state of TN didn’t vote for him. Get over it already.

Predictably, the conservative chattering class and its amen corner in the right-wing blogosphere are apoplectic about the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Al Gore. But their rage and angst about the Nobel Committee’s ‘politicized awards’ for ‘mass exaggerators’ and ‘deceptive rhetoric’ isn’t merely a function of the inconvenient truth of the success of Gore’s global warming campaign. No, the rugged individualists of the right are just hopping mad that they never win prizes designed to recognize contributions to, well, the rest of humanity.

To remedy this perpetual slight, then, here are:
‘Conservative Nobel Prizes We’d Like to See.’

Physics: George W. Bush. President Bush is awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics for his groundbreaking work on the Second Law of Thermodynamics, which declares that the entropy, randomness and chaos of the universe are ever increasing. The Bush Doctrine, with its three tenets of no safe havens for terrorists, preventive war and democracy promotion, has produced sectarian conflict and civil war in Iraq, Hamas control over Gaza, centrifugal forces in Lebanon and an Al Qaeda safe haven in Pakistan. Like global warming, Bush demonstrated that global chaos can be indeed caused by human action.

The amusement I get when the rightwing chooses it’s spots to doff their ‘Scoop Brady’ hats and all of a sudden turn into skeptics and debunkers is eternal.

What you have presented is a personal attack in the guise of skepticism. Instead of addressing global warming directly, you try to call into question the credibility of the individual. You have failed miserably to rebut his arguments and the mainstream of society has rejected your desperate arguments.

It’s interesting to see you act as though we’re in some kind of courtroom and employ this legal tactic while at the same time rejecting all manner of evidence presented.

    This sh!t is weak.

  8. Koko Says:

Six months before Bush invaded Iraq, Al Gore said that a pre-emptive war on Iraq would increase the number of terrorists, undercut US influence in the region, and diminish US legitimacy in the world affairs.

The rightwingers claimed Saddam Hussein was a dire WMD threat, that he was in cahoots with al Qaeda, that the war was necessary.

No wonder the rightwingers want to bury Al Gore: objectively, he was 100% right, and they were 100% wrong.

Rightwingers don’t have what it takes to govern: regular contact with reality. They live in Fantasyland.
