There is less chance for a poor American citizen to become wealthey than in most other western countries. So let's stop the bulshit about the American dream please.
Researchers have found that while the achievement gap between white and black students in the United States has narrowed significantly over the past few decades, the achievement gap between rich and poor students has grown substantially during the same period.

Many children of poor families essentially have to raise themselves because their parents have to work long hours just to get by.

By heather on 13/02/2012 - 7:56Your smarts can be used elsewhere, for example healthcare. Since I left and reeducated myself for the first time in my life I feel respected as an employee and I can pay my bills.
In the end it is good parenting that has the strongest influence on a child’s success in life.
