Vandaar dat alle ouderen in Nederland 'Don't Euthanize Me' armbanden dragen.

Very wealthy Americans influencing elections

The biggest sponsor of rightwing Republican presidential contender Newt Gingrich is billionaire casino king Sheldon Adelson. He already gave $21 million till now to the campaign of Gingrich and is considering donating another cool $100 million. That's how obsceen politics in the U.S. has become. Adelson can afford it, he's good for at least $25 billion.
When the casino mogul was asked if it was fair to influence an election like this, he said:

“I’m against very wealthy people attempting to or influencing elections,” he shrugs. “But as long as it’s doable I’m going to do it.”

But why would he spent so much money on Gingrich? Very likely a loser. Well, Adelson is buying public policy. In this case, the Middle East policies of Republican Newt Gingrich.
Adelson, who hopes that his son will become a sniper in the Israeli Defense Force, wants for example to move the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Gingrich said he will do so on his very first day as U.S. president. Adelson also was pleased with Gingrich’s description of Palestinians as “an invented people.”
Indeed, that kind of policies.

Republican Rick Santorum’s agenda is based on the Bible

That's the problem with religious freaks like Rick Santorum. Not only do they believe in something never seen, never proven, something that created the wurm that bores through the eyes of innocent chlldren in Africa blinding them forever, they also can't be wrong. They have God on their side.
And of course the other man's God is false, like Obama's God. This is what Republican frontrunner Rick Santorum had to say about Obama's God. So if fundamentalist Christian Santorum will become the Republican nominee, get ready for the false prophet real prophet debate, like, well... medieval times:

The “president’s agenda” is “not about you,” he said. “It’s not about you. It’s not about your quality of life. It’s not about your job.

“It’s about some phony ideal, some phony theology,” Santorum said to applause from the crowd. “Oh, not a theology based on the Bible, a different theology, but no less a theology.”

How much do Republicans hate birth control?

The debate about whether birth control should be a part of health insurance will be over soon in the U.S. Science has come to the help of the christian rightwing.
Republican Jeanine Nutter from New Hampshire explains her male collegues all about protecting their prostates from the evil workings of the pill for women:

Republican New Hampshire Representatove Jeanine Notter:  “As a man, would it interest you to know that Dr. Brownstein just published an article that links the pill to prostate cancer?”, Notter asked state Rep. Andrew Manuse (R-Derry).
“In the children that are born from these women?” a confused Manuse replied.
“Women take the pill and it’s in their bodies - I’m very anti-chemical - and the men pick it up,” she explained.

When will Iran start bombing American synagogues?

In Bangkok a supposed Iranian man had his legs blown of by his own bomb. He also slighty injured a taxi driver and passersby with a grenade. According to Israel this was directed at Israeli officials and the work of the Iranian government. In India and Georgia there were attacks on Israeli diplomats.

This was the headline in The Washington Post: “Israel blames Iran for India and Georgia bombing attempts; Tehran denies role.”

As American professor Juan Cole points out, investigators in India do not believe Iran was responsible. Still it is clear who, according to the coordinated propaganda campaign in the American and Israeli media, is the scary agressor in the Middle East: Iran.

We don't know at this moment who is responsible, but what is clear is that the attacks are being instantly exploited by Israel-devoted neocons to further depict Iran as the gravest threat to world peace.
Neocon Jennifer Rubin: “one more piece of data that Iran is growing ever bolder and more aggressive.”
And Alan Dershowitz warns for "Iranian attacks on American synagogues."

Remember just how dangerous Iraq was in the days leading up to...

Is Mahmoud Ahmadinejad the new Saddam Hussein?

Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta of the Obama administration thinks that it's very likely that Israel will strike nuclear facilities in Iran in 'April, May or June'. He called the chance of an attack greater than fifty percent. That's because Israel, which has an estimated amount of 75 to 400 nuclear bombs, thinks Iran is the evilest country in the world since Saddam Hussein's Iraq. If Israel will attack Iran it wil have the support of the U.S., which holds an estimated amount of 10.700 nuclear warheads.

The explanation for the military attack on Iran, which hasn't directly attacked any country for centuries, will be that Iran might be able to get nuclear weapons soon and might get agressive towards it's neigbors, Israel or the West in the future. Something that peaceful but militarily weak countries like the U.S., Israel and the Netherlands, who recently attacked and/or occupied Iran's neighbor Iraq, fear immensely.

After the attack Israel will be supported by the UK (200 nuclear bombs) and France (300 nuclear bombs). Also the Dutch government - which very likely has 22 American nuclear bombs on Airbase Volkel - will support the attack.

Since almost all of the American media will support the attack, with Fox News urging the Obama administration for American forces to join Israel in bombing Iran, almost all Americans will support the attack on Iran. The result will be that a big majority of Americans will support the Obama-administration and Barack Obama - winner of the Nobel Peace Prize 2008 - will be reelected as president for a second term.

End good all good!

Anyone surprised U.S. is downgraded to 47th position for press freedom

Can people criticise Israel's policies without being called an anti-semite? That's an ongoing debate in the U.S. where neocons, despite the abysmal failure of their policies, still have a lot of influence in the public debate, partly through well funded thinktanks. Now American intellectuals are hotly arguing over the use of the term Israel Firster. That are Americans who are loyal to Israel first and America second. To be more specific... the white rich part of America second.
The debate is also interesting for countries in Europe. Just fill in muslim for Jew and Iran for Israel and statements about dual loyalty become very interesting.
Let's for example look at this statement by Caroline B. Glick, the Jerusalem Post’s deputy editor. Just a little bit modified.

"We must hope that world muslims will recognize today that the fate of the muslims in Iran and throughout the world is indivisible and rally to Iran’s side whatever the social cost of doing so."

In the U.S. the independent writer Glenn Greenwald  - another Jew called anti-semite by rightwing neosons - writes about the coordinated smear campaign against mostly progressive writers in an effort to keep them from being critical of Israel's policies. And it works, self censurship has taken hold of the U.S.
Is anyone surprised that the U.S. - that shining city on the hill - is downgraded to the 47th position for press freedom worldwide by Reporters Without Borders..Lower than all EU-countries (including Hungary) and even for example Surinam and Niger.
Glenn Greenwald explains how the U.S. is censuring itself.

Abortion, another ineffective Republican policy

All Republican candidates for president want to stop abortions in the U.S., most even for raped women. Mitt Romney was once pro choice (allowing regulated abortions). But now that he is trying to get elected as the Republican nominee by teabaggers and fundamentalist Christians he's against it. Indeed, Republicans even want to restrict access to contraception.

Of course everyone wants to limit abortion as much as possible, so what is the best way to achieve that? In for example the Netherlands (Western Europe) abortion rates are much lower than in the U.S. Also the Dutch have a very liberal abortion policy.
According to a new report from the Guttmacher Institute, highly restrictive abortion laws do not lead to lower abortion rates. Globally, nations with more restrictive abortion laws, like in Latin American and Africa, also have a higher number of unsafe abortions and deaths.

This chart compares regional abortion rates to abortion policies and shows that women living under Western Europe’s liberal laws undergo fewer abortions than those in more restrictive countries in Latin America, Africa, and Asia.

Turkey is run by Islamic terrorists (part 2)

Rick Perry - once the Tea Party favorite - causes a diplomatic incident even before he's elected President of the United States of America.

The Turks themselves had harsh words for Perry. In a scathing statement, Turkey’s ambassador to the United States expressed his disappointment and concern over Perry’s comments, calling them “misplaced” and “ill-advised.” The ambassador also said Turkey receives no significant foreign aid from the U.S.

The Turkish ambassador reactied to this statement by Perry, when asked a question by (surprise!) Fox News reporter Bret Baier.

“When you have a country that is being ruled by what many would perceive to be Islamic terrorists," Perry said, "when you start seeing that type of activity against their own citizens, then yes, not only is it time for us to have a conversation about whether or not they belong to be in NATO, but it's time for the United States, when we look at their foreign aid, to go to zero with it."

Even the State Department had to come in. Spokesman Mark Toner said:

“We absolutely and fundamentally disagree with that assertion," Toner said. "It [Turkey] continues to...

Rick Perry: Turkey is ruled by Islamic terrorists

The quality of the Republican presidential candidates is abominable. And they keep revealing their stupidity to the world. And the reporters are not any better. Yesterday there was a presidential debate in South Carolina. Fox News’ host Bret Baier asked a question from the book of the right wing’s anti-Turkey campaign.

“Since the Islamist-oriented party took over in Turkey,” Baier said. He also stated that the murder rate of women has increased, press freedom has declined, and the country has “embraced Hamas” and threatened military action against Israel. He then asked Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) if “Turkey still belongs in NATO.”

Perry: “Obviously when you have a country that is being ruled by what many would perceive to be Islamic terrorists, when you start seeing that type of activity against their own citizens, then, yes.”
