Police in Ohio pulled over a motorist, member of the fledgling "Dogs Against Romney" protest movement, who had a dog kennel strapped to the roof of his car. Just like Mitt Romney did during a 12-hour drive in 1983. [...]

"Our 911 center received a call from a motorist who saw the car in the photo drive past, and she said the door to the animal carrier was open and a large white dog was in it," Littleton city spokeswoman Kelli Narde said in an interview. A police dispatcher radioed nearby officers, who spotted the car and pulled it over. Fortunately, no dog was harmed: "There was in fact a stuffed animal in the cage," Narde said.

Het is nieuws van gisteren dus oud maar daarom niet minder ongelofelijk voor iedereen die wel eens wat langere tijd in landen in Afrika, Zuid-Amerika, Zuid-Europa of Azië heeft doorgebracht.

Op nieuwjaarsnacht is de Rotterdamse politiechef Jan Hoogstraten aangehouden door zijn eigen politie omdat hij een flink slokje teveel op had. Niet alleen is hij daarbij door agenten met duidelijk lagere bevoegdheden bekeurd, ook is zijn rijbewijs ingenomen. Verder begint het Openbare Ministerie een strafrechterlijke procedure tegen de hoogste man van de Rotterdamse politie en intern wordt er een disciplinair onderzoek uitgevoerd.

In acht van de tien landen wereldwijd zou men weigeren dit nieuws te geloven... dat politieagenten hun eigen chef kunnen en durven aanhouden en bekeuren. In Nederland gaat de discussie uiteraard over of hij toch niet is voorgetrokken.

Er mag wat het politieoptreden betreft geen paradijs op aarde zijn maar neemt u van JdeW aan... Nederland komt er dichtbij.
