Thanks to growing optimism about the American economy President Obama is looking quite good in the polls. Even most swing states go for Obama, six month before the general elections. Of the total 540 Electoral Votes in november 2012 according to Public Policy Polling Obama would get 303 votes and likely Republican contender Mitt Romney would get 206 votes.
Rasmussen is a conservatively biased poll.
Gallup Tracking: Obama d. Romney (46-45)
PPP for Daily Kos/SEIU: Obama d. Romney (48-46)
Rasmussen Tracking: Romney d. Obama (47-45)
Lady Gaga is not allowed to perform in Indonesia. A permit to sing at a sold out concert in Jakarta next month for 50.000 thousand fans has been canceled. Islamic extremists got their way because Lady Gaga would 'corrupt the Indonesian youth'.
Does this Islamic leader have a point?:
“She’s a vulgar singer who wears only panties and a bra when she sings and she stated she is the envoy of the devil’s child and that she will spread satanic teaching,” according to the Islamic Defense Front.

Apparently Republicans have learned from the last election. If anything, John McCain's pick for vice-president, Sarah Palin, was not boring. So this is what Mitt Romney is looking for as VP, according to Politico:
A Republican official familiar with the campaign said it will produce a pick who is safe and, by design, unexciting – a deliberate anti-Palin. The prized pick, said this official: an “incredibly boring white guy.”
One of the co-founders of Facebook, Eduardo Saverin, gave up US citizenship last week. Saverin - well known from the movie: 'The Social Network' - is living in Singapore. Saverin has a four percent share in Facebook and the move means he doesn't have to pay capital gains tax on the many millions heading his way when shares of the social site will be listed on stockmarkets worldwide.
Remarkably, the Brazilian born Saverin, who has America to thank for so much, is praised for his move by conservative America. In fact Forbes Magazine writes that they expect thousands of U.S. bankers, investors and businessmen to flee the country to protect every penny they made in the U.S., when Obama will repeal the Bush taxcuts for the rich.
Forbes Magazine: Saverin’s departure is also a reminder to politicians that while they can obnoxiously decree what percentage of our income we’ll hand them in taxes, what they vote for won’t necessarily reflect reality.
Assuming nosebleed rates of taxation were a driver of Saverin’s decision, politicians will hopefully see that if too greedy about collecting the money of others, they’ll eventually collect nothing.
Really and will they all go to Singapore? True, capital gains tax is low there. But still, though it's less obvious, people pay a lot more taxes in Singapore than in the U.S.
This is what philosopher Noam Chomsky had to say about President Obama on American tv yesterday. Warning, it's not nice!
If the Bush administration didn’t like somebody, they’d kidnap them and send them to torture chambers.
If the Obama administration decides they don’t like somebody, they murder them.
First, it's not true. The neocon Bush government has killed more people worldwide than President Obama and most presidents before him like the last presidents: Clinton, Bush sr, Reagan, Carter and Ford. Also more Americans - civilians and soldiers - were killed under the Bush administration than under most American administrations before him.
Still he has a point. Peace Nobelprize winning Obama is constantly killing people in numerous countries in the Middle East. In fact with his anonymous drones he's killing so many muslims that a CIA counter-terrorism boss recently warned that the strikes in Yemen have the risk of converting domestic militants into 'dedicated enemies of the west'.
Glenn Greenwald calls it 'these constant acts of lawless violence' and çan't understand why there's almost no discussion about it in...
