Een Hindu bezoekt Amsterdam en beschrijft ons voedsel in de Indiase krant The Hindu.
Volgens hem was Hollands voedsel ooit de crème de la crème. Geroemd tot in Frankrijk aan toe. 
Is dat waar? Nederlands voedsel, het neusje van de zalm. Is er iemand die dat kan bevestigen?
Het is trouwens wel even geleden.

Dutch food has changed dramatically over the centuries. Between the 15th and 17th Century it was haute cuisine, rich and luxuriant enough to rival France. However by the 20th Century, the Dutch – showing their signature sensible frugality — decided to set up housekeeping schools for girls, to teach them how to make economical, nutritious dinners from easily available ingredients. To this day, the food is robust, quick and seasonal, though there are fine dining restaurants cooking up heavy, elaborate winter-style food that recaptures the past.

Hoho, niet te snel oordelen mensen. Even afwachten hoe de nieuwe, keiharde aanpak van soft drugs door Nederland uitpakt. Nog even en dan zitten de gevangenissen hier overvol met toeristen die zonder vergunning met een joint zijn betrapt.

TPM Muckraker - The Global Commission on Drug Policy, which includes several former heads of state and UN officials, has released a report calling the global war on drugs a failure.
"The global war on drugs has failed, with devastating consequences for individuals and societies around the world," the report reads.

The report calls for an end to the "criminalization, marginalization and stigmatization of people who use drugs but who do no harm to others," and for governments to experiment with ways to regulate drugs so as to undercut organized crime and improve public health. 

In HelloMagazine wordt Nederland gepromoot als toeristische trekpleister.
Ja, het verbaasde mij ook. En nog verbazender, in het bijzonder wordt Nederlands eten gepromoot! Dine with the Dutch, zo heet het.
Zou dat trekken? Een pan boerenkool op een geruit tafelzeiltje met Goede Tijden Slechte Tijden op de achtergrond? En nog iets. Vrijwel alle Nederlandse families waar toeristen welkom zijn, wonen in Amsterdam. Ik bedoel, wie met een beetje klasse woont er tegenwoordig nog in Amsterdam?
