In Amerika bestaan bumperstickers voor van alles. Simpele boodschappen… daar zijn Amerikanen sterk in. Zoals deze. 

Een Republikeinse (teabagger) kandidaat voor het parlement, Allen West, zei dat bovenstaande sticker hem woest maakte. Omdat volgens hem de persoon die zo’n sticker op zijn auto plakt alle Amerikaanse rechten en vrijheiden, ja zeg maar de VS, wil weggeven. Kortom, West heeft alles van Geert Wilders gelezen. Je vraagt je wel af hoe het met hem zal gaan als er echt iets gebeurd in de wereld. 
De man rijdt zelf natuurlijk rond met deze bumpersticker.

Er blijkt een hele industrie voor dit soort stickers te zijn, zie deze.

Now a video has surfaced of the man making inflammatory statements about Islam. It all began with the innocent “Coexist” bumper stickers, which display the symbols of Christianity, Judaism, Islam and other religions together. A sticker which made him furious, he says.
One wonders if this makes you furious what else would?
Anywahy, it’s pretty clear Allen West has read everything of Dutch anti-Islam politician Geert Wilders.

President Bush had een groot borstbeeld van Winston Churchill in het Oval Office. George Bush aanbad Churchill als de ultieme ‘tough guy’. Iets wat Bush ook graag wilde zijn maar helemaal niet was. Vanwege pappa Bush ging W. niet naar Vietnam en heeft hij nooit gevochten.
President Obama heeft het beeld terug gestuurd naar Engeland. Obama’s Keniase grootvader, Hussein Onyango Obama, werd door Churchill twee jaar zonder proces gevangen gezet en gemarteld omdat hij zich verzette tegen het Britse imperium. 
En - zie hoe dichtbij het verleden komt - dit is ook Churchill, in de Swat vallei nu Pakistan: “We proceeded systematically, village by village, and we destroyed the houses, filled up the wells, blew down the towers, cut down the shady trees, burned the crops and broke the reservoirs in punitive devastation.” Glenn Greenwald:

In the Sunday NYT Book Review, the always-excellent Johann Hari has a fascinating review of a new book by historian Richard Toye, Churchill’s Empire, which examines the two very different Winston Churchills. That dichotomy is epitomized by the very divergent treatment accorded the British Prime Minister by the current U.S. President and his predecessor. George Bush kept a large bust of Churchill in the Oval Office because — like so many right-wing, super-hawk, pseudo-tough guys — Bush fetishized Churchill for the warrior courage which Bush craved vicariously to possess but obviously lacked in himself and his own life. In stark contrast, Barack Obama sent the bust back to Britain because “his Kenyan grandfather, Hussein Onyango Obama, was imprisoned without trial for two years and tortured on Churchill’s watch, for resisting Churchill’s empire.” Hari notes that Churchill is justifiably admired for recognizing the Nazi threat earlier than most in the British establishment (and, I’d add, he also insisted upon candid and open debate over war), but Hari then details Churchill’s less-discussed, darker side as follows:

Amersfoort, Netherlands - Previously forced to drink on the sly, up to two litres (two quarts) of wine and three litres of beer per day, alcoholic Janetta van Bruggen is one of 19 clients of an innovative Dutch clinic where homeless alcoholics get booze in rations to keep them on a “light buzz”.
“I will drink less from tomorrow,” the 51-year-old says with a wink, stepping up to a make-shift bar counter where she pays a social worker 40 euro cents (0.52 dollars) for a half-litre of beer poured into a tall, frosted glass.
Behind the counter, a staff member makes a tick behind Van Bruggen’s name on a register kept between the stack of beer cans in the fridge and a pail of soapy water for washing mugs.

De laatste dertig jaar was Nederland van de kleine landen het grootste voetballand ter wereld. Dat vindt de bekende Britse schrijver en columnist Simon Kuper die in Nederland is opgegroeid. Hij is een mooi voorbeeld van een intelligent mens die toch gewoon van voetbal houdt. Nederlands voetbal wel te verstaan.
Om het Nederlandse succes te verklaren heeft Kuper alles gelezen wat buitenlandse analisten over Oranje schrijven. En dan kom je steeds hetzelfde standaardverhaaltje tegen. Over een ruziend stel dat zichzelf al rollebollend vernietigd.
Volgens Kuper gaat dit slordige, halfware verhaal voorbij aan de essentie van het Nederlandse voetbal. Holland is juist zo goed omdat de spelers eindeloos discussieren over het spelletje. Nederlanders kibbelen al over voetbal sinds Johan Cruijff, de vader van het Nederlandse voetbal, in 1970 zei: “Voetbal speel je met je hoofd.” Iedere Nederlander is opgegroeid in die traditie,
Kuper: “Toen ik twaalf was en speelde bij de junioren in een Nederlands dorpje gingen we na afloop van de wedstrijd naar de snackbar waar we over een zak patat bespraken wat er zoal mis was gegaan die wedstrijd. Niemand werd gespaard. De Engelsen hebben die traditie nooit gehad.”
Mark Burke speelde voor diverse Engelse clubs toen hij in 1995 naar Fortuna Sittard ging. Een echte topper dus. Burke: “In Engeland zegt de manager wat je moet doen en dat doe je. In Nederland gaat dat anders. Het viel me onmiddelijk op hoeveel die Nederlanders praten. Tijdens mijn eerste wedstrijd riep een speler tegen me: een meter, een meter naar links. Verslaggever Tom Mctague van The Mirror ging Oranje supporteren tijdens Nederland - Slowakije. Nederlanders zijn namelijk net Engelsen, aldus Tom, alleen kunnen ze beter voetballen. Hij bekeek de wedstrijd in De Hems Dutch Bar in Soho, Central London. Het leek precies op een Engelse pub… stampvol met bierdrinkende mensen. Maar dan wel zonder de constante dreiging van geweld in de lucht en zonder het voortdurende braken van dronken supporters. Zaken die gebruikelijk zijn bij voetbal in een Engelse pub. Oftewel, het was bijna beschaafd.

In het dorp Dharhara in Bhagalpur district in India wordt aan ouders die een kind hebben gekregen tien mango of lychee bomen cadeau gedaan. Tenminste, als de baby een meisje is. De bomen worden gegeven om te voorkomen dat een meisje bij de geboorte wordt gedood. In de staat Bihar kan een vrouw alleen een echtgenoot krijgen als ze een flinke bruidschat meeneemt. Vandaar dat regelmatig meisjes bij de geboorte worden omgebracht.

BBC - In India, where traditionally boys have been preferred over girls, a village in backward Bihar state has been setting an example by planting trees to celebrate the birth of a girl child. In Dharhara village, Bhagalpur district, families plant a minimum of 10 trees whenever a girl child is born.
In Bihar, payment of dowry by the bride’s family is a common practice. The price tag of the bridegroom often depends on his caste, social status and job profile. The state is also infamous for the maximum number of dowry deaths in the country. But the mango trees have freed parents of undue worries. Now Dharhara village, with a population of a little over 7,000, has more than 100,000 fully grown trees, mostly of mango and lychee.

PvdA-er Ahmed Marcouch stelt voor ‘lokjoden’ in te zetten om daders van antisemitisch geweld te pakken. Dat omdat joden in Amsterdam niet meer met een keppeltje over straat durven. “Wat mij betreft zet je een lokjood in, maar je pakt ze.”
In Amsterdam-West is vanwege het geweld tegen joden al een schuilsynagoge gebouwd, zonder duidelijke joodse kenmerken. Dat is nodig omdat de joden in de buurt regelmatig worden bedreigd door Marokkanen.
Misschien is ‘lokjood’ een mooie taak(straf) voor de juist vrijgelaten Damschreeuwer. Die was toch gekleed als orthodoxe jood?
Om niet te discrimineren stelt JdeW voor om in de West-Brabantse gemeente Rucphen (PVV: 39 pct stemmen) een lokMarokkaan en een lokneger in te zetten. Verder in de grote steden een lokhomo en een lokpot. We hadden al een lokwoning (tegen inbrekers) en een lokZwartePiet. Oftewel Nederland lokland.

Simon Wiesenthal Center asks EU to intervene in Dutch anti-Semitism

(JTA) - In the wake of the desecration of a 280-year-old synagogue and other recent anti-Semitic incidents in the Netherlands, a Jewish group has asked the European Union to intervene. The Simon Wiesenthal Center, in a letter issued Tuesday to EU Foreign Minister Baroness Catherine Ashton, requested the EU’s “intervention to investigate the rampant epidemic in anti-Semitic incidents in the Netherlands,” due in part to the current “political vacuum in the Netherlands following General Election.”
Anti-Semitic incidents in the Netherlands reportedly grew by 64 percent in 2009, the center said. Anti-Semitism increased in the year 2009 throughout the world, according to reports. whole story

Toenemende woede in Nederland - en verbazing in de rest van de wereld - over de arrestatie van Nederlandse en Zuidafrikaanse vrouwen tijdens de voetbalwedstrijd Nederland-Denemarken. Ze werden gearresteerd vanwege het dragen van een oranje jurkje, ontworpen door bierbrouwer Bavaria maar zonder een zichtbare merknaam. Het Amerikaanse biermerk Budweiser sponsort het WK. Het laatste nieuws is dat twee Nederlandse vrouwen in een Zuidafrikaanse rechtbank worden beschuldigd van criminele activiteiten ‘under South Africa’s various merchandising laws’.
De Nederlandse politiek begint nu te protesteren. Maar het wachten is op onze voetballers. Accepteren ze dit? Blijven we? Kom op mannen, zet eens wat druk naar voren! En waar is Freek de Jonge?

“We are not aware of any southern African legislation stating wearing an orange dress is a ground for arrest,” Aad Meijer, a spokesman for the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told Bloomberg News.

Hier een letterlijke vertaling van een deel van de schuldbekentenis van Joran van der Sloot betreffende de dood van Stephany Flores. Zoals vrijwel alles in Peru rond deze zaak is ook de schuldbekentenis publiek bezit geworden. De verklaring is in handen gekomen van het persbureau AP.

Volgens de lieveling van extreem rechts Amerika, Sarah Palin, zijn de Nederlanders experts op het gebied van olierampen. Ja, JdeW wist dat ook niet. Nederland zou hebben aangeboden om te helpen bij de olieramp maar nog geen telefoontje hebben terug gekregen van president Obama. ‘Dat is wat de Nederlanders ons vertellen’, aldus Palin. Ben echt benieuwd om welke Nederlanders het gaat. Zou Geert Wilders nu al - hij is nog geen eens minister van immigratie - over president Obama hebben zitten klagen bij deze neoconservatieve, bijna vice-president?

PALIN: They can’t even get a phone call returned, Bill. The Dutch. They are known, and the Norwegians. They are known for dikes and for cleaning up water and for dealing with spills. They offered to help and, yet, no, they too, with a proverbial can’t even get a phone call back. De Friese gemeente Dantumadeel heeft de internationale pers gehaald met een slim plan om werkloze vrouwen in Nederland aan werk een man te helpen. En de uitkering uit! Voor 1.400 euro per exemplaar worden de vrouwen klaar gestoomd voor het huwelijk.
Eerst gaan ze naar kapper Braaksma in Dokkum (toevallig ook gemeenteraadslid). Vervolgens krijgen ze een ‘imagoadvies’. U bent er nog bij?

Imago advies: Door bewust de juiste kleuren en style te kiezen een positief imago opbouwen.

Daarop gaat de gemeente winkelen bij Modehuis Alkema (inderdaad, ook gemeenteraadslid) om de garderobe te updaten. Tenslotte krijgt de werkeloze tips op het gebied van sociale vaardigheden (waarmee kan ik u van dienst zijn meneer?), lichaamshouding (borst vooruit, kont naar achter) en presentatie (mes rechts, vork links).
Heeft de vrouw die route met goed gevolg afgelegd dan mag ze op de foto bij fotograaf Harkema (krijg nou wat, ook al gemeenteraadslid) waarna ze wordt ingeschreven bij relatiebureau Mens en Relatie in Oentsjerk.

For unemployed Dutch women, a free makeover to find a man

The Dutch have come up with a unique way to get unemployed women off the ‘dole’. Get them a man. The plan? Eligible unemployed women will get £1,150 “fashion and beauty makeovers,” life coaching, and a membership to a dating service with a 75% “success” rate. The benefit? If the Dutch can get these women married off to men who can take care of them, the government won’t have to spend so much on the ladies. Sinds het onderonsje in 2002 tussen burgemeester Job Cohen en wethouder Rob Oudkerk - Oudkerk: ‘het zijn wel kut-Marokkanen’ … Cohen: ‘ónze kut-Marokkanen’ - is kutmarokkaan een algemeen geaccepteerd begrip geworden in Nederland. Dat blijkt wel want Cohen was bijna premier van Nederland geworden. JdeW begrijpt dan ook niet, als er zo’n prima woord beschikbaar is, dat er nou weer een ander woord gezocht worden voor ónze medelanders. We doelen op voetballer Eljero Elia die het woord kankermarokkaan naar een vriend twitterde. De webcam stond daarbij echter aan, dus iedereen zag het. Kortom: ruzie in de keet! We kunnen dan ook rustig stellen dat Elia onze kansen om wereldkampioen te worden kapot heeft getwitterd.
Trainer Van Marwijk heeft twitteren gelijk verboden maar het is natuurlijk al te laat. Marokkanen boos, zwarte mensen boos, nee dat wordt niks. JdeW vindt dan ook dat tot op de bodem moet worden uitgezocht om welke kankermarokkaan het ging! Heeft hij bijvoorbeeld echt kanker? Dat zou natuurlijk heel mooi zijn want dan is het geen schelden. En is het echt waar dat hij Elia altijd neger noemt? Helpt ook. Misschien iets voor Johan Derksen om deze beerput open te trekken, die is gek op stank.

Een interessant artikel van de Amerikaanse schrijver Doug Saunders over Nederland en zijn verkiezingen. Hij haalt de geschiedkundige Oscar Handlin aan die stelt dat het te verwachten is dat immigranten zich in hun nieuwe land (extreem) vastklampen aan de hun bekende culturele identiteit en religie. De kunst is de angst weg te nemen en niet hem te vergroten. Over wie had Handlin het: Nederlandse immigranten in Amerika. 

Wednesday’s vote will be the final chapter in a political odyssey that began on Nov. 2, 2004, when a young extremist of Moroccan parentage murdered filmmaker Theo van Gogh in Amsterdam and turned the Netherlands into the epicentre of Europe’s debate over Islam and immigration. It was the event that defined Job Cohen’s career, and created a new kind of politics that also defined his opponents.
The most famous of those opponents is Geert Wilders, the shock-haired rabble-rouser who, as I noted here after interviewing him, applies to his country’s Muslims the ideas and rhetoric that an earlier generation of European politicians applied to Jews. Luckily, Dutch voters have tossed him to a distant fourth place, apparently after realizing the full scope of his monomaniacal ideas.
The most likely victor Wednesday (nothing is certain in Dutch elections) is Mark Rutte, leader of the economically conservative VVD party. Mr. Wilders’s party broke away from the VVD in a feud over Islam and immigration; Mr. Rutte has become a Nick Clegg-like overnight sensation by focusing tightly on his call for strict cutbacks to quell the debt crisis – although Mr. Rutte is also aggressively anti-immigration, calling for a total ban.

At the end of the ceremony, McCartney said this: “After the last eight years, it’s great to have a president who knows what a library is.” Republican House Minority Leader Boehner responded very disappointed: Paul McCartney should “apologize to the American people, the White House and President Obama.”

Santiago, emol.com chile - El Gobierno ha decidido expulsar del territorio nacional al ciudadano holandés Joren Van der Sloot, quien es acusado de haber cometido un crimen contra una joven en Perú, y también de estar vinculado con la desaparición de otra mujer en la isla caribeña de Aruba. heelo verhalo hiero 

Joran van der Sloot wordt niet overgedragen aan de Peruaanse autoriteiten maar uitgezet. Voor overdragen moet een formele aanklacht worden ingediend en behandeld, hetgeen maanden kan duren. Voor uitzetten hoeft dat niet. Vandaar dat Joran vandaag nog de grens over gaat naar Peru waar hij beschuldigd is van moord op de 21-jarige Stephany Flores Ramírez.
Als Joran van der Sloot deze moord heeft begaan, is de kans groot dat hij ook Natalee Holloway heeft vermoord. Gezien de informatie (bekentenis) lijkt het daar steeds meer op. Vrij zeker is dat het in beide gevallen niet om geplande daden gaat. Joran lijkt daarmee het tegendeel van een kille seriemoordenaar die plezier beleeft aan het van te voren plannen van zijn moorden. Stephany Ramírez lijkt in een woedeaanval te zijn vermoord. Opmerkelijk is ook dat hij beide moorden vrij snel heeft bekend. Die op Natalee zelfs vele malen.
Onzeker is of bij de delicten een rol heeft gespeeld dat het vrouwen waren.
Het ligt wel voor de hand, zeker gezien deze cijfers over geweld tegen vrouwen:

Precies vijf jaar na de verdwijning op Aruba van Natalee Holloway is gisteren in een hotel in Lima een dood meisje aangetroffen. Tatiana Flores Stephany Ramirez is het laatst gezien, zo tonen beveiligingscamera’s, in het gezelschap van Joran van der Sloot.
De Nederlander is de hoofdverdachte van de moord op de 21-jarige dochter van zakenman en autocoureur Ricardo Flores. Volgens Buitenlandse Zaken bevindt Van der Sloot zich in Chili.

Dat is het gruwelijke verhaal dat nu de wereld rond gaat.
Let wel, er is niets zeker. Het is niet zeker dat Joran van der Sloot dit meisje heeft omgebracht, net zoals niet zeker is dat hij Natalee Holloway heeft gedood.

Graag wijs ik u in dit verband even op dit verhaal op het blog Paranormaal.
U kent ze wel… paranormalen, de uitzonderlijk begaafde lijkenpikkers die altijd op de loer liggen om een beetje bij te verdienen met het verdriet van andere mensen. De zieners die weten waar vermoordde kinderen begraven liggen. De mediums die, alhoewel ze nooit de moeite hebben genomen het menselijk lichaam te bestuderen, weten hoe zieke mensen als Sylvia Millecan te genezen.

Niet… niet… niet…? Van wie is dit blog, vraagt u zich af? Wel, van Isabel Blanco. Weer zo’n paranormaal begaafde die gelijk opduikt als het om moord en doodslag gaat. Zie hier hoe ze zichzelf introduceert op haar blog:

The Dutch government is supplying six sweeping arm systems for the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The technology involves a skimmer that scoops up oil and water and then separates the two.
The technology, called the sweeping arm system, was developed by the Dutch in the early 1970s and has been used to successfully combat oil spills – including high-profile disasters involving the Sea Empress, off the coast of Wales, in 1996; and the Prestige, off the coast of Spain, in 2002. read on>> (more…)

JdeW is hier een groot voorstander van. Het verbieden van het besnijden van jongens. Hoewel veel minder erg dan de gruwelijke praktijken die bij meisjes plaatsvinden is ook het verminken van jongens als gevolg van religieuze waanideeën van de ouders schandalig. Laat het aan de jongens zelf over als ze mannen zijn of ze al dan niet een deel van hun geslachtsdeel zonder verdoving willen laten verwijderen.
JdeW denkt niet dat het storm gaat lopen…

Dutch doctors urge ban on circumcision 

The Sydney Morning Herald - The Royal Dutch Medical Association on Thursday suggested a possible ban on elective circumcisions for young boys, saying they were medically unnecessary and violated children’s rights.
The 161-year-old organization, which represents more than 46,000 doctors and students, called the procedure “a violation of the integrity of the body.”

De schrijver Simon Romero van dit verhaal denkt ook dat Tanja, of Eillen zoals ze zichzelf in haar gevonden dagboeken noemt, of Alexandra zoals de FARC haar noemt, nog leeft. En hij heeft contact gehad met de familie van Tanja in Nederland.

Ms. Nijmeijer’s odyssey from Dutch bourgeois comfort to remote Latin American encampments puzzles many, including her own family. “She’s a member of an organization that takes hostages and deals in drugs, there’s no denying that,” her aunt, Mariette Olde Dubbelink, said by telephone from Denekamp.
“This is a very difficult situation for us,” said Ms. Dubbelink, who speaks on behalf of Ms. Nijmeijer’s family. “We don’t know if she is alive or not. That is the big question.”
In January, Colombian military officials told Ms. Nijmeijer’s family that the FARC had mentioned in their radio communications a woman called Holanda. That was proof, they said, that Ms. Nijmeijer might still be alive. But the Defense Ministry, questioned here on her status this week, declined to comment.

NYT - The personnel file compiled by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia on Guerrilla No. 608372 seems mundane at first.
It says she was born on Feb. 13, 1978, taught languages in Pereira and Manizales, and in 2002 joined the Antonio Nariño urban warfare cell in Bogotá, from which she received explosives training. A photograph shows an alluring young woman in a beret. Nom de guerre: Alexandra.

Desi Bouterse is niet alleen een domme man het is ook een hele foute man.
Stelling: Als het Surinaamse volk vindt dat Desi Bouterse, een moordenaar, een ex-dictator en een veroordeelde drugshandelaar, het land moet leiden, dan moet Nederland alle hulp aan Suriname staken. 
UPDATE, mei 26th, 2010 at 9:58 am: De Megacombinatie (MC) van oud-bevelhebber Desi Bouterse heeft dinsdag een klinkende overwinning behaald bij de parlementsverkiezingen in Suriname. Naar verwachting komt de partijcombinatie van lijsttrekker Bouterse uit op 24 zetels en blijft het Nieuw Front van president Ronald Venetiaan steken op circa 14 zetels.

Paramaribo, Suriname — An opposition party led by a former dictator and convicted drug trafficker appeared likely to gain seats in Tuesday’s parliamentiary elections in the small South American country of Suriname.
The political comeback mounted by Desi Bouterse was a popular topic of debate at polling places, with some voters arguing the country’s strengthening economy could unravel under the man who ran a leftist military regime in the 1980s.
