Of doen wij weer onder voor de Fransen? Die staan namelijk ‘met open armen klaar’ om de te verwachten stroom van vluchtende Walen en Brusselaars op te vangen. Dat schrijft de Franse Gaullist Nicolas Dupont-Aignan. De parlementariër is er van overtuigd dat het vechten wordt in België. Hij roept Frankrijk op nu al voorbereidingen te treffen voor de Walen die moeten vluchten voor rovende en plunderende Vlamingen. Gezegd moet worden dat JdeW grote waarde hecht aan de uitspraken van dit parlementslid want - eerlijk is eerlijk - Fransen weten natuurlijk alles van op de vlucht slaan.
Maar als het inderdaad vechten wordt in België, en Frankrijk trekt het land binnen om de Walen te beschermen, wat gaat Nederland dan doen? En ik geef u op een briefje dat die Fransen gelijk het meest aantrekkelijke deel van België gaan bezetten: kiesdistrict Brussel-Halle-Vilvoorde. Daarom deze vraag. Laten we ons land opnieuw afpakken door die Franse katholieken of steken we daar een STOKJE voor!

Een steeds verdere versnippering van het politieke landschap zal het steeds moeilijker maken om in België en Nederland een regering te vormen. In België zijn, als ik goed heb geteld, eenentwintig partijen vertegenwoordigd in het federale en regionale parlement. En dan zijn er ook nog een twintigtal partijen die wel stemmen trekken maar niet in een parlement zitten.
In Nederland zijn 28 partijen vertegenwoordigd in het nationale parlement, de gemeenteraad en Provinciale Staten. Wist u bijvoorbeeld dat de Boerenpartij nog bestaat? En de Nieuwe Communistische Partij - NCPN? De Vereenigde Senioren Party?
Al die partijen, is dat erg? Nee helemaal niet. Het geeft aan dat we goed op weg zijn naar de ultieme democratie. Een partij voor iedere burger.

De taaloorlog heeft bij onze Belgische vrienden nu ook in het voetbal toegeslagen. Het is de jeugdtrainers van KFC Strombeek vanaf nu verboden hun instructies in het Frans te geven. Omwonenden klaagden over het feit dat de trainers veelvuldig het woord ‘ballon’ in plaats van ‘bal’ gebruikten terwijl de club op Vlaams grondgebied is gevestigd. De lokale bevolking diende een petitie in bij de burgemeester. Die het verzoek niet honoreerde maar wel inwilligde. C’est ca!
RTBF - Le climat reste parfois extrêmement tendu entre néerlandophones et francophones en périphérie bruxelloise. A Strombeek, une pétition signée par plus de mille personnes, exige qu’on ne parle plus français pendant les entraînements du club de foot local, alors que la majorité des jeunes joueurs est francophone.

Van onze Belgische vrienden, HLN - De Oranjegekte bij onze noorderburen neemt in aanloop naar het WK weer gigantische proporties aan. Dat leidt tot een hoop WK-nummers, hoe gekker hoe liever. En blijkbaar ook hoe slechter hoe liever. ‘Twee keer geel is rood’ van Twee Maten is wel heel erg slecht, en een fijne kandidaat voor het meest debiele WK-nummer ooit.

Premier Yves Leterme krijgt de smaak te pakken. In totaal heeft de Vlaming nu vijfmaal ontslag genomen, waarvan drie keer als premier van België. Dit keer heeft hij het bijna een half jaar volgehouden. Dat is een persoonlijk record voor Yves. Dus bij dezen onze complimenten.
Door de val van de regering ging de stemming over een boerkaverbod in openbare ruimtes niet door. Dat verbod had een wereldprimeur voor België moeten worden. De boerka heeft overigens niets met de val van het kabinet te maken. Het ging weer eens over het vijftigjarige conflict Brussel-Halle-Vilvoorde. De Fransen daar mogen bij landelijke verkiezingen stemmen op een Franstalige partij terwijl Vlamingen in Wallonië niet op een Vlaamse partij kunnen stemmen.
Opmerkelijk is wel dat België door de val van de regering binnenkort de eerste EU-voorzitter wordt zonder kabinet.

As to Belgium, then there the proximity is more tangible. This can be explained by our similar historical destiny. Despite their common spoken language, and the fact that through most of history they have been one country, the Dutch and the Belgians today have a very different mentality.

Nederlanders in het buitenland blijken veel eerder te overlijden dan Nederlanders die gewoon thuis zijn gebleven. Met name zonnesteek is een grote boosdoener. En de stijve Nederlanders in België blijken de Bourgondische levenswijze lichamelijk niet lang vol te houden.
Nee, serieus, expats sterven gemiddeld twintig (20) jaar eerder dan mensen in Nederland. Belangrijkste doodsoorzaken zijn hart- en vaatziekten, ongelukken, kanker, infecties en psychische problemen. Waarbij ongelukken, infecties en psychische problemen veel vaker voorkomen dan in Nederland. Let wel. Het betreft hier vooral landen waar mensen niet voor de lol zitten: het Midden Oosten en Afrikaanse landen.
Volgens een onderzoek van gezondheidswetenschapper Arina Groenheide is het risico op overlijden in België het kleinst (0,028 sterfgeval per 100.000) en in Kenia het grootst (12,18 op de 100.000). Groenheide vond dat Nederlanders bijna 20 keer zoveel kans hebben om dood te gaan in Oost-Mediterrane gebieden, in landen als Marokko, Egypte, Afghanistan en Jordanië - als in Europa. “In Afrika is de sterfkans ruim 16 keer zo groot, met infecties als een van de belangrijkste oorzaken. In Zuidoost-Azië loopt men 9 keer meer kans om te overlijden. Infecties zijn ook in dat gebied een belangrijke doodsoorzaak voor landgenoten.”

VT4 - De winterkoning, het op één na kleinste vogeltje van Europa, is tot “Vogel van het Jaar 2010″ gekozen, zo heeft Vogelbescherming Vlaanderen meegedeeld. Na de verkiezing van de boerenzwaluw tot de vogel van het jaar 2009, leert de uitslag van deze editie “andermaal” dat de Belgen “een uitgesproken voorkeur hebben voor kleine zangvogels”, zegt de vereniging over de uitslag. Wist u bijvoorbeeld dat de Vlamingen net als Christopher idolaat zijn van H. van Rompie Ronald Reagan.

Wel, zo rechts dat Kristol gisteren stelde dat president Obama in zijn toespraak bij de uitreiking van de Nobelprijs voor de Vrede de wereld heeft voorbereid op een aanstaande aanval op Iran.

Hoera! Wij Europeanen hebben nu ook een president en die is vanochtend begonnen aan zijn eerste werkdag. Vannacht trad het Verdrag van Lissabon in werking. De 27 EU-landen kozen Herman van Rompuy tot president voor een periode van tweeëneenhalf jaar. Hard werken? We zullen zien. Eén (ambtenaar) moet de eerste zijn.

En voor een noemenswaardige opleving van de bedrijvigheid is het wachten op een impuls van nieuwe technologie. De laatste decennia hebben we daarmee veel mazzel gehad. Eerst was er de komst van de chip en de computer, daarna kwam communicatie-technologie: telefonie, internet. De technologie die in de toekomst die economische impuls kan geven is energie-technologie. De omschakeling van olie naar andere energie, andere motoren, andere auto’s enz. kan een enorme stimulans geven. Maar het duurt wel even voordat het zover is. Daar zal ook Baron Jean van Gysel de Meise nog achter komen.

En verder kunnen ook Rusland en Armenië al even fantastisch zingen.
Conclusie van dit songfestival is dus dat Nederlanders best kunnen zingen (Heintje, Danny, Jantje, Ralfie), alleen verleren ze het blijkbaar op het moment dat er vrouwen in het spel komen.
